What I want to show with this blog is that anyone can look like a Gossip Girl, no matter your budget. I'll only show you what similar clothes I found. Shoes and bags should be versatile in my opinion.

About shoes and bags: I suggest every girl that wants to look like a Gossip Girl in everyday life should own two or three pair of shoes. Boots, booties, sandals (for summer), heels, ballet flats... Your choise! I suggest the colours black, brown and grey. This way you should get any GG look nailed.
And for bags I suggest you buy the most amazing bag you want and can afford and be proud of it. Maybe you can afford different bags but a good bag is a must have. To take with you to school, work or wherever you're heading. Maybe it has all the colours of the rainbow, maybe it's plain black. As long as you love it, it's the right one.

I love this look! It's so sexy... Anyway. In this post I will show you how to get this look.

Skirt: This skirt is so similar to the one Serena is wearing and available for only €4,95 at H&M.

Top: This is a shirt/sweater in blue very similar to Serena's top. Not the same, but worn with the skirt you will look like her such a lot! Also available at H&M for €19,95.

Shoes: I suggest any grey shoes you have, maybe brown, and my personal favourite would look great as well. So just choose the pair of shoes you love most, as long as they're no sneakers.

Bag: It's not that Serena's bag is matching her outfit so just choose one you feel like that matches the outfit.

Serena's necklaces

In a previous post I told you the Gossip Girls wear wonderful necklaces. This post is about Serena's necklaces. As shown in the pictures above she wears bold necklaces quiete a lot. Because of her outstanding necklaces her outfits get upgraded from "great" to "outstanding". So if you're heading for Serena's look, big necklaces is what you need. Big bold necklaces that say "Look at me!"

Sparkle!

Sparkle all day long! Sparkles and shimmering is not only for parties. During the day they look just as pretty. So why not look glamorous at all times?

Mix and match

The reason we all love the clothes on Gossip Girl is not the price tag. Maybe for a few, but not for me. I think it's the way they combine all the stuff. It's unexpected, a little out of line, and that's why we love it so much.
So if you want to dress like a Gossip Girl, try to put together clothing pieces you never thought would look good together.

1. Serena wears a glitter skirt (at day!) with a striped shirt and a casual jeans blazer. Just put together what you're in the mood for and don't be afraid only one item is allowed to stand out.

2. Blair has put together all those different clothes with bold colours and not even all in the same pattern. Because of the colours look so well together, she can totally pull it off. So look at colours instead of patterns. They can match as well.

3. Again Blair is showing that when all of the colours come together in the blouse, it doesn't matter which colour of the blouse it is.

4. Who would have ever thought it can look good on you wearing a gold blazer with bright blue pants. I certainly didn't, but Serena showed us otherwise.

5. Again, it's all in combining colour, not pattern.

6. And again.

Never wear the same thing twice

Apparantly not only in real life you have to wear your clothing pieces more than once, but on the Gossip Girl set some items should be re-used as well. I was wondering what they did with those thousend dollar dresses after using them for a couple of hours.

In the left two pictures you see Serena wearing the same necklace in different episodes. In the right two pictures you see Blair wearing the same skirt twice. I was not sure it's really the same item (that's for the skirt as well as the necklace) but they're suspiciously similar.

In real life most of us cannot afford throwing close away and never wear it again. Or give it to a good cause, a youger sister, the girl next door or your best friend. We have to wear or clothes multiple times.
The lesson I extract from this, is not putting your clothes away after wearing them, but try to wear it in different ways. Don't always put on the same skirt with the same top with the same vest. It's boring. Experiment a little and put together something unexpected. This way your pieces are like new every time you wear them. That's a lot cheaper than wearing them once and a lot more exciting, I think.

Necklaces

The girls wear bold necklaces all the time. Why wearing a necklace when it doesn't show? So go wild on your necklace! Or maybe wear multiple together? Necklaces (jewellery in general) are the finishing touch of your outfit. Make sure you finish the right way!

While Blair mostly wears her bold necklaces at events, Serena rocks them all day long. The bigger, the better she seems to think. And why blame her? It makes her stand out for the right reasons.

Jenny is a star in wearing multiple necklaces. She combines (mostly silver coloured) jewellery for a thrown together look that ain't that thrown together as it seems.

Tights

Wearing dresses and skirts in summer is done with bare legs. Maybe some socks to keep your feet warm when it's a little chilly in the morning or something, but mostly bare legs.
And while they wear plain black ones all the time, they know how to go crazy with colour and pattern, or even both (third picutre from the left). So spice up your outfit by adding some fun tights to make your outfit even more exciting.

When you want to look like Jenny, you might wanna go for black ones with an extremely wild pattern. Some might say they're tacky, but worn with confidence the only thing they are is really hot!

Leather jacket

While blazers are great to make you look polished and clean, Gossip Girls don't wear them all the time to do so. While a blazer is meant to make you look that way, leather jackets don't. By wearing them with a hot outfit underneath, they can do the same for you. Combine a leather jacket with a dress or tough black skinny pants for an edgy but sexy and put together look.
Leather jackets are available in many colours. Neutrals and wild colours like red. Most of us won't be able to buy a lot of jackets, so my advice is buying a black one that fits perfectly and goes with everything.

Especially Jenny knows how to rock her leather jackets. She wears them quiete a lot from season two/three and further. And Georgina, when she makes her first appearance on the show, knows how to wear a black blazer really well.

Blazers

It's not like a Gossip Girl wears blazers all the time, but quiete a lot. It's a sexy, classy item that makes any dress appropriate for chic events. Or just to look a little more polished on an ordinary day.

It's not like you need a closet full of them, but one or two in a solid neutral colour will do. Like black and grey for example. This way you can wear them with a lot of your other clothes and look neat over and over again.

Especially Serena rocks her blazers on regular bases.
